In order to galvanize the immense resources of youth can work as a major force of socio economic change. It is therefore needed to create increasing opportunities for them to develop their personality and their functional capacity and thus make them economically productive and socially responsible. The concept of government job has become an illusion. Therefore, it is important to develop the personality of person in a proper way, which will empower him to face the risk and causalities of life with presence of mind rather than running away from it.

In the light of above, the Government of Sikkim hereby establishes “SIKKIM YOUTH DEVELOPMENT BOARD” so called in short SYDB is an autonomous body under Sports and Youth Affairs Department. The establishment of the Sikkim Youth Development Board has been approved by the Government vide Cabinet Memorandum Memo No. 2339/SYA/2014 dated 01/08/2014 for holistic development of the Youth of Sikkim state with an appropriate constitution comprising Chairman, Members and Member Secretary with specific aims, objective, modalities and function.
